NBC’s top executives and a number of lawmakers will reportedly host a pair of Jan. 6 witnesses as guests of NBCUniversal News Group during Wednesday’s Radio & Television Correspondents’ Association (RTCA) dinner.
In an obviously partisan gesture, Capitol food service worker Dion Montague and Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn are being honored for their testimony over their involvement in the Jan. 6 protest and their assistance in taking down those who took part in the breach of the Capitol that day.
Montague, a cafeteria worker, claims to have hidden in a staff area when former President Donald Trump’s supporters stormed the building in the days leading up to President Joe Biden’s inauguration, according to The Hill.
Dunn has made a big deal out of defending the Capitol that day, raging against protesters and Republicans in general over the incident. He compared those who gained entrance to the Capitol to hitmen in remarks he made before the House select committee investigating Jan. 6.
