I thought the actions of the administration (saber rattling at 'corn pop' and such) were timed to bury the indications that
1/6 was not the story the MSM made it out to be, no scary "insurrection" and laced heavily with the stimulant of planted FBI informants, DOJ CIs and agents provocateur. IOW, it was at least partly a construction of the DOJ itself, and furthermore, enabled by security policies of the various agencies entrusted with keeping the building secure. Two people were killed by police there, one shot, one beaten to death, and none of the protesters were armed. That rot continues, as does the political incarceration of people deemed by the Zampolits to have offended the party narrative, while still trying to blame Trump for something that likely should be laid on the doorsteps of the enforcement agencies and Pelosi, herself.
It also covers the peer-reviewed 'discovery' that in the rest of the world Ivermectin, and yes, even Hydroxychloroquine, are effective treatments for COVID when used in concert with antibiotics and zinc and vitamin supplements, especially in the earliest stages of the disease or even as prophylactic medication. But wait, there's more, the shots being paraded about (and even mandated) are ineffective at preventing the disease, preventing transmission of the disease, and even ineffective at completely preventing death. And masks didn't do squat.
And it provides a smokescreen behind which the Green New Deal continues to throw its moldy tendrils about American Energy Security, with expansion of Federal rules about virtually everything to do with producing energy from conventional sources and getting it to consumers, a great part of which has been hampered by moratoria on leasing Federal land for oil and gas exploration onshore and off, not to mention new emissions rules which effectively limit oil production because of the natural gas that is produced as a byproduct, and shutting down infrastructure projects which would allow that wellhead gas to be processed for market by hampering development of gathering pipelines and processing facilities, not to mention pipelines for taking Natural Gas and Liquids and compressed gas to market.
Nor the return to the WOTUS rules that were trashed by the courts under Obama as being Federal Overreach.
The government isn't entitled to the rain that falls on me.
The 'other hand' has been very busy while everyone's attention has been focused on the hand busy waving around a lot but getting bugger-all done to aid the Ukraine.
Now that COVID is mostly dead as an issue, while the American MEDIA have been focused on the Ukraine (which contributes greatly to what Americans pay attention to--even the protest of thousands of truckers circumnavigating the Capital Beltway has had almost no mention) not all have been focused solely on the possibilities of WWIII emanating from yet another round of Russian aggression and territorial/resource seizure in Europe, as dastardly and evil as that is.
After all, even if nothing is to be done about it by those in power, never let a crisis go to waste.
