Ukrainian Government Official Blasts Biden And Democrats

David Marcus • Feb 26, 2022

Speaking on condition of anonymity, an official in the Ukrainian government blasted Joe Biden and Democrats, telling The Daily Wire, “If Democrats weren’t such bleep in foreign policy, this might not have happened.”

Even as the Russian invasion of their neighbor to the west moved into its third day, Ukraine has continued to put up a fight. But according to our source, not only is more support needed, but it should have been forthcoming already.

“The Obama-Biden administration has refused lethal aid to Ukraine for a long time,” the official told The Daily Wire. “It was Trump who was the first to provide some Javelins to Ukraine, then Biden started sending Javelins in mass just before invasion. But too little, too late.”

“Biden’s first step in office was to lift sanctions on Nord Stream 2. Now he applies them heavily. Now it’s too late,” he continued. “If Democrats did not play into the weak policy of not sending weapons to Ukraine and lifting sanctions on Nord Stream 2, Putin would probably think twice or three times.”

“Also, we never understood why would Biden say that no U.S. troops would be involved,” he added. “Even if he did not intend to, why say it when no one asked? At least [he] could have speculated on the possibility to deter an attack.”  .  .  .

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Hey, at least the socialist Hollywood actors that think they are the smartest people in the world are singing songs and and making statements of support. Oh one other thing they are doing, blaming Trump for all of Biden and his administrations F'k ups. The twisted wormhole time and space contorted logic that the man who kept our enemies frozen for four years is responsible for what a mentally incompetent fools policies made possible fourteen months after he was out of office is

Some thoughts on Russia/Ukraine—a short 🧵:

First, it is true that the media's portrayal of a stark dichotomy between Russian imperialism and "liberal Western democracy" is overwrought. Ukraine is indeed a corrupt and oligarchic state itself.
Hunter Biden and Burisma, anyone?

Second, it is nonetheless equally true that Putin is an ex-KGB thug who (obviously!) who still harbors a vestigial hatred of America from his Cold War days. It is also true that Zelensky has been admirably courageous—his "ammunition, not a ride" line is the stuff of legends.

Third, from a U.S. national interest perspective (which is all we should be talking about), it is worth noting that our closest Central European allies (e.g., Poland) are strongly on Ukraine's side. That is of course logical, and it militates in favor of U.S. support for Ukraine.

Fourth, given the *principle* of U.S. support for Ukraine and deterrence of Putin, the means of doing so becomes the realm of *prudence*. Oligarch-targeting sanctions, for instance, seem perfectly sound. But Kinzinger-esque calls for a no-fly zone? What a truly horrific idea.

Fifth, while the U.S. should side with Ukraine—again, the means of doing so is a prudential judgment call—it's worth emphasizing the extent to which all of this is a distraction from China, which is by orders of magnitude the U.S.'s most urgent geopolitical threat.

Biden's weakness on the world stage emboldens Xi, but it is also true that neocon/neolib shrieks of hysteria to fight Putin like he's Hitler going into Poland amounts to an empirical misjudgment (Russia is corrupt petrostate with economy size of Italy) and a tactical blunder.

The time is simply wrong to realign U.S. foreign policy to the European theater. We should support Ukraine, including via supplying arms (as our Central European allies are demanding), but this is not the beginning of World War III, people.

Get a hold of yourself.

The U.S. should support Zelensky. It is counter to the American national interest if Zelensky were to fall, and a Belarusian-style Russian puppet state were to be imposed.

But it is obviously not worth sending in U.S. troops to prevent that, if need hypothetically be, either.

So much of foreign policy amounts to nuance and preventing "least bad" scenarios. So let's stop it with the overly simplified narratives and focus on specific tactics.

And yes—stand with Zelensky against Putin, and support him through all reasonable and prudential means.

As a brief follow-up, it is also worth noting that Ukraine should not be in NATO—and keeping that option on the table is needlessly provocative. @HawleyMO is right about this, and I hope/expect the U.S. and NATO to make this clear in any impending ceasefire agreement.
