At least seven straphangers targeted during violent weekend on the subway

A man was threatened with a hatchet and two women attacked – one stabbed in the stomach and the other struck with a metal pole – during a violent weekend on the Big Apple subway system, authorities said.

At least seven straphangers were targeted between Saturday and early Monday — with six physically assaulted.

A 42-year-old man was standing on the southbound platform for the 2, 3, 4, and 5 trains at the Franklin Avenue station in Crown Heights around 12:30 a.m. Monday when he noticed another man, 58, staring at him, cops said.

The younger man asked the straphanger why he was staring – prompting the older man to pull a hatchet out of his jacket and swing it at him, police said.

The victim, of Brooklyn, managed to avoid being struck by the hatchet, cops said.

Transit cops in the station got word of what happened and took the suspect, identified as Robert Griffith, into custody on scene, authorities said.

The incidents come as Mayor Eric Adams’ new subway safety plan is set to go into effect Monday.

Teams of NYPD cops and outreach workers are set to start canvassing trains and subways stations across the city under the mayor’s plan to crack down on rule-breaking and eliminate homelessness.

The teams will also seek to identify mentally ill and homeless people in a bid to stop them from living on trains and in the stations — and work to get them the treatment they need.

We shall see how that new safety plan works out in practice.

The bottom line is this:  until and unless they forcibly remove the nutjobs who are now treating the subway system as a giant flophouse - to the point where, on some trains, several cars might as well be designated the sleeping cars - these incidents are going to keep happening.

It is not a matter of "work[ing] to get them the treatment", it's a matter of getting them off the trains, out of the subway, and away from ordinary people going about their own business.

The ACLU and democrats, but I repeat myself, in an effort to hasten the destruction of America forced the mentally ill to be released to the streets because being institutionalized and medicated violated their rights. Odd isn't it that the socialists find/confiscate all sorts of taxpayer funds to clothe, feed, give free healthcare and homes for illegal aliens but can't take care of homeless and ill Americans?
