If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

-Ayn Rand-

Just Desserts:

For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16
I will NOT comply.

I wondered about that, too.  From the article:

Quote
2. Deserts
The desert from the phrase "just deserts" is not the dry and sandy kind, nor the sweet post-dinner kind. It comes from an Old French word for deserve, and it was used in English from the 13th century to mean "that which is deserved." When you get your just deserts, you get your due. In some cases, that may mean you also get dessert, a word that comes from a later French borrowing.

Several of those words are still in my active lexicon.

Except 'fro' don't count... And no, I am not talking about an afro.... A fro is a tool used to make shingles or otherwise split wood in a controlled fashion. Understanding the phrase 'to and fro', I often wondered if it was based upon the tool called fro, as when making shingles, one flops the tool back and forth upon the round, because that tends to provide an evenness to the shingles.

A fro is a favored tool around here.
