The North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego closed its inbound and outbound gates on Tuesday after a driver tried to enter with “bomb-making materials,” officials said.

The gates remains closed as of Tuesday afternoon while the station, which is part of Naval Base Coronado, investigates, according to public affairs officer Kevin Dixon

The driver, who is in the custody of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, tried to enter the station this morning, Dixon told The Post. The driver’s vehicle was searched and the illicit materials were discovered.
