The U.S. has scrambled over the past month to deploy troops to support Ukraine should Russia again invade, deploying or moving some 5,500 military personnel and placing another 8,500 on high alert.
There were already more than 80,000 American troops stationed across Europe, but the Pentagon has added and shifted thousands more.
President Biden has been steadfast that no U.S. forces will be deployed into Ukraine.
