Biden announces plan to cut cancer deaths in half in 25 years

Feb. 2 (UPI) -- President Joe Biden on Wednesday vowed to slash the cancer death rate in half over the next 25 years, calling his goal "ambitious, but ... doable."

He announced the aggressive undertaking during remarks on reviving his so-called "cancer moonshot" effort.

"The goal is to cut the cancer death rate in half in the next 25 years," Biden said during a White House event Wednesday. "It's bold, it's ambitious, but it's completely doable.

"We can do this. We can end cancer as we know it."

Biden launched the Cancer Moonshot initiative in 2016 as vice president under President Barack Obama, not long after his son Beau died of brain cancer.

"We're calling it a 'Moonshot,' and that's because I believe that this effort, like President [John] Kennedy's call to land on the moon 55 years ago, is truly a call to humankind -- to be bold and do big things," Biden said at the time.

Well of course he will cure cancer ... the same way he cured COVID.
It is funny to hear Grampa Biden talking about 25 years from now.
He has a 0% probability to know if he was right or wrong.
Why not claim cities on Mars in 40 years? What the hell man ... he will never know.

That was my thought when I read the article. We have more Covid deaths under his watch than under Trump’s  and two new variants yet he’s going to reduce cancer deaths?

Actually, why not?  The latest COVID variant is essentially a nasty head cold.  Yes, some people die of (or with) it, but people die of colds via secondary infections.

I wouldn't put any stock into any Biden medical promises.

I've read that cancer deaths already have been trending toward being reduced by 50% within the next 25 years, thanks to advances in medical science and pharmacology, i.e., the private sector.

No input from Dementia Joe is needed. He won't even be around to take credit for it in 2047. That's a shame.  :laugh:
