12,000-16,000 truckers idled by the mandate would remove the source of revenue from as many households, an estimate of some 50,000 people suddenly not receiving their revenue stream. That commerce, for owner operators, would affect their ability to pay their bills, including payments on trucks, and have a ripple effect through the economy. Consider $250,000 and up for just the tractor in that tractor trailer setup new, and even used trucks cost a hefty price, not to mention the industry built up around supporting that (diesel mechanics, truck stops, cooks and waitresses, store crews, tire shops, heck, even lot lizards gotta eat).
The impact of that mandate, just on the transport industry and associated support industries alone would be huge, then factor in the price of goods (if you can get them), both in store and online (which still have to be delivered), and the economic hit would only be second to that of a trucker's strike throughout the industry.
