Ron DeSantis: Flags in Florida will be lowered for late Nevada Sen. Harry Reid
Tallahassee Democrat, Jan 12, 2022

Flags in Florida will fly at half-staff to honor the late U.S. Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada, Gov. Ron DeSantis' office announced Wednesday evening.

Reid, a Democrat, had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early 2018. He died Dec. 28 at the age of 82.

Reid "will be remembered for the way he demonstrated immense grit and determination in his personal life and political career," DeSantis' office said in a statement.

Following a directive from President Biden "and as a mark of respect," the U.S. and state flags will "be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the State of Florida from midnight tonight until sunset on Thursday.
