You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.
Rational fear and anger at vicious murderous Islamic terrorists is the same as irrational antisemitism, according to the Leftists.

Ronnie Hawkins, musician who called Canada home and mentored the Band, dead at 87

Ronnie Hawkins, the big, boisterous Southern rockabilly singer who called Canada home and helped mentor the first band from this country inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has died.

His wife, Wanda, confirmed to The Canadian Press that Hawkins died Sunday morning after a long illness at age 87. "He went peacefully and he looked as handsome as ever," she said in a phone interview with CP.

The musician known as The Hawk didn't make his reputation in the studio. His highest charting single in the U.S. reached No. 26, and, not a natural songwriter, most of his recorded work consisted of covers. But his stage shows were raucous affairs, characterized by his booming voice, humorous stage patter and acrobatic moves like his "camel walk."
...
Hawkins's band over the years included musicians and performers who went on to have their own success, including Roy Buchanan, Beverly D'Angelo, David Foster, Lawrence Gowan and Pat Travers.

But it was a specific five who would cement Hawkins's reputation in music lore as an elder statesman. Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel and Robbie Robertson eventually left Hawkins en masse for the United States. They backed Bob Dylan and then made their own mark as the Band, with critically hailed albums and hits such as The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, Up on Cripple Creek and The Weight.

"We should thank Ronnie Hawkins in being so instrumental in us coming together and for teaching us the 'code of the road,' so to speak," guitarist Robertson said when the Band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

Brothers, sisters, come on down to that river
Guaranteed you'll never be the same
There's a fountain flowing from the heart of the Savior
Bring your sins and all your guilty stains

That’s an incredibly timeless song.

@debrawiest

The same can be said about a lot of "The Band" songs.

You would almost think it was written by Levon Helm.

Former Bon Jovi bassist, founding member Alec John Such dies

Quote

NEW YORK (AP) — Alec John Such, the bassist and a founding member of the iconic rock band Bon Jovi, has died. He was 70.

The group on Sunday announced the death of Such, the New Jersey band’s bassist from 1983 to 1994. No details on when or how Such died were immediately available. A publicist for singer-songwriter Jon Bon Jovi didn’t immediately respond to messages.

“He was an original,” Bon Jovi wrote in a post on Twitter. “As a founding member of Bon Jovi, Alec was integral to the formation of the band.”

Bon Jovi credited Such for bringing the band together, noting that he was a childhood friend of drummer Tico Torres and brought guitarist and songwriter Richie Sambora to see the band perform. Such had played with Sambora in a band called Message.

Ann Turner Cook, whose cherubic baby face was known the world over as the original Gerber baby, has died. She was 95.

Gerber announced Cook's passing in an Instagram post on Friday.

“Many years before becoming an extraordinary mother, teacher and writer, her smile and expressive curiosity captured hearts everywhere and will continue to live on as a symbol for all babies," the company said.

Cook was 5 months old when a neighbor, artist Dorothy Hope Smith, drew a charcoal sketch of her that was later submitted for a contest Gerber was holding for a national marketing campaign for baby food.

The image was a hit, so much so that it became the company's trademark in 1931 and has been used in all packaging and advertising since.

A few days late, but worth posting:

Former Tuskegee Airman Asa D. Herring Passes Away at 95

By Kira Davis
Jun 02, 2022

America has lost another hero. On Tuesday, NBC Phoenix affiliate12News reported the passing of Lieutenant Colonel Asa D. Herring.

Herring was recruited into the Tuskegee Airman near the end of World War II. The all-Black squadron was an important part of American history. The Tuskegee Airmen fought valiantly for America and for freedom, even as they were denied their fundamental human rights at home. Nevertheless, the squadron earned a reputation for being brave, dogged and resilient.

Herring eventually left the military to pursue his education, and in true Tuskegee Airmen fashion, he didn’t just pursue an education, he excelled at it.

Jim Seals, half of 'Summer Breeze' soft-rock duo Seals and Crofts, dies at 80
"What an incredible legacy he leaves behind," his family writes.
By Jessica Wang June 08, 2022 at 01:10 PM EDT
Entertainment Weekly

Jim Seals, half of the 1970s soft-rock duo Seals and Crofts, died Monday, his family and friends said. He was 80.

The musician's wife, Ruby Jean Seals, told The New York Times that the cause of death was an unspecified "ongoing chronic illness." His cousin, musician Brady Seals, also confirmed the news on social media, writing, "My heart just breaks for his wife Ruby and their children. Please keep them in your prayers. What an incredible legacy he leaves behind." ...

Seals and musical partner Darrell "Dash" Crofts first joined rock band the Champs, already known for their 1958 hit "Tequila," alongside Glen Campbell before forming Seals and Crofts in the late '60s. The duo had three top 10 hits: "Summer Breeze," "Diamond Girl," and "Get Closer," all of which reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Other popular songs include "Hummingbird," "We May Never Pass This Way," and "You're the Love."

Seals and Crofts also released the controversial anti-abortion song "Unborn Child," which debuted a year after the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade ruling for abortion rights. Seals acknowledged that the track "completely killed" the duo's career for a while, telling The Miami Herald in the late '70s, "It was our ignorance that we didn't know that kind of thing was seething and boiling as a social issue," per the Times.  ...

Woody Williams dead at 98
By Jeff Jenkins
June 29, 2022 - 8:27 am

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — World War II hero and Medal of Honor recipient Hershel “Woody” Williams died Wednesday morning at the VA hospital near Huntington named in his honor. Williams was 98.

The Woody Williams Family Foundation posted a message Tuesday indicating the West Virginia native was in his last days. The foundation said he died at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday surrounded by family members.

“Woody’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude for all of the love and support. They would also like to share that Woody’s wish is that the people continue to carry on his mission.”

That mission includes the recognition of Gold Star families who have given loved ones in military service. The foundation has put up dozens of Gold Star Family monuments around the country. Williams attended many of the ceremonies in person. ...

Williams was presented with the Medal of Honor for his exploits on Iwo Jima during World War II. He took out seven Japanese gun emplacements, or “pill boxes” with a flame thrower. His actions gave Marines a foothold to advance. His heroic action came the same day of the iconic raising of the flag on Mt. Suribachi.

Williams told MetroNews in an October 2019 interview that he didn’t see it at first.

“I saw it immediately after it was up and the reason was Marines around me started jumping up and firing their weapons and yelling about a flag,” said Williams. “I was about a thousand yards away.”  ...

Very sad news. Hershel “Woody” Williams has died at age 98. Of the 473 Medal of Honor recipients from WWII, Woody was the last survivor. Iwo Jima vet.

@mountaineer

What isn't mentioned is that it is INSANELY dangerous to carry a flame thrower. Not only does it make you a larger target,it makes you a PRIMARY target of every enemy solider with a gun because nobody wants to burn to death.

Which is what the flame thrower operator faces as he SLOWLY charges the enemy with that big, obvious pack on his back and nozzle in his hands.

I believe he exhausted 6 of the 7 flame throwers he had when attacking the Jap pillboxes.  During his action there where 4 Marines assigned to provide cover for him.  All were killed.
