‘The Date That Will Live In Infamy’: Remembering Pearl Harbor 80 Years Later
By  Virginia Kruta

“Yesterday, December 7, 1941— a date which will live in infamy— the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by the naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan,” then President Franklin Delano Roosevelt put the surprise attack — which left about 2404 American service-members and civilians dead and thrust the United States into war — into words.

Today, as the United States remembers that Sunday morning 80 years ago, the survivors barely number in the dozens. But just one day earlier, all was quiet.  But everything changed as morning dawned on December 7, 1941.

The Arizona is still an active duty ship so ships passing her on the way to their piers render her military honors.  The first time I went by her, it was hard to imagine that just some 32 years before she had been tied up there.  You couldn't help but get a lump in your throat. 88kleenix

On September 11, 2001, 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States.

Why the difference?  USA attacked vs 4 targets...
