Tom Hanks Says He's Not Paying Jeff Bezos $28 Million for a Few Minutes In Space

'America's Dad' said Bezos offered him a rocket ride but it came at full price.

Academy Award winner Tom Hanks has taken millions of viewers on fictional journeys to space through his performances in Apollo 13, and Cloud Atlas, but when offered a chance to experience the real thing on a Blue Origin rocket, the 65-year-old actor said he’d pass.

The comments came during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live where the host asked Hanks if Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos had asked him to fill a seat on the company’s New Shepard rocket.

“Well yes, provided I pay!” Hanks said, before going on to complain about the flight’s expensive price tag. “I’m doing good Jimmy, I’m doing good, but I ain’t paying 28 million bucks.”

Elon Musk seems to be offering a better deal:  actually going into orbit for a few days.  I'm not sure how much he's charging, but it seems more worthwhile than a few minutes of weightlessness at the edge of space.

Even if all things were equal I'd give the dough to Musk over Bezos.

In any case, would you want to be on the same trip as the star of the movie "Apollo 13"?

Where exactly did they pull that plumb from, their azz? He hasn't even played a daddy in the movies but once and that was to himself. Maybe the author meant America's socialists dad because I can't think of single reason anyone would consider Hanks America's dad.
