TRENTON — The Associated Press on Wednesday called the New Jersey governor's race for Gov. Phil Murphy, saying he narrowly won a victory over former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli.

Murphy will be the state’s first Democratic governor to get a second straight term in 44 years and is expected to deliver his victory speech at 10 p.m. Wednesday at the Grand Arcade at the Pavilion in Asbury Park.

A New Jersey 101.5 count of the election results as of Wednesday afternoon showed Murphy ahead of Ciattarelli with less than a percentage point with mail-in and provisional ballots yet to be counted.

Fox, The Wall Street Journal, Yahoo and Bloomberg news all called for Murphy but they’re still counting votes with 87% of the vote counted, it’s Murphy with 50% and  Ciattarelli at 49.2.

Why do I think it’s going to be like calling for Dewey when Truman won?

Youngkin had a lead greater than that with 97% of the vote counted, but they said that race was too close to call.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."
