Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe’s campaign may have been well ahead of the latest polling showing their candidate trailing Republican opponent Glenn Youngkin.

In a race McAuliffe was leading early on, signs of trouble are everywhere as his campaign recently brought in the heavy guns to stump for the former Virginia governor, including President Joe Biden and the Democratic messiah himself, Barack Obama. But a Fox News report that the campaign spent nearly $60,000 to hire high-profile attorney Marc Elias, who masterminds election-related legal challenges, has raised a lot of eyebrows.

Even more eye-opening is that when the McAuliffe campaign was contacted for comment here, they scrambled to “kill” the story, according to emails mistakenly sent to Fox News.

OK, this F-up is a freshman-in-clown-college kind of gaffe, very worthy of laughs. The bigger meaning, IMO, is that the McAwful Campaign email means that other MSM outlets have been working hand-in-glove with the McAwful Campaign. Not only is that blatant, unacknowledged, partisanship, that is also an unreported in-kind campaign contribution. If Youngkin is elected Governor, he needs to set in motion an investigation, subpoenaing all communications between the McAwful Campaign and MSM outlets.

The Virginia GOP should be running ads on this 24/7 until election day.  Unfortunately, they have chosen to sit on the sidelines and do nothing.  Youngkin is on his own here.  Hope he pulls it out.  And I hope people ask why the GOP wasn't able to take back the legislature on Youngkin's coattails.

It will be a very close, contested outcome.  Both sides would be smart to have election lawyers on standby.

I heard a live interview with the Chairman of the VA GOP this afternoon and they sound ready for the fight----they've an army of attorneys and poll watchers around the state.  Their eyes are open and there are boots on the ground @DefiantMassRINO  ---- hopefully Youngkin prevails.
