By Phil Stewart and Patricia Zengerle

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told Congress on Tuesday that the Afghan army’s sudden collapse caught the Pentagon off-guard as he acknowledged miscalculations in America’s longest war including corruption and damaged morale in Afghan ranks.

“The fact that the Afghan army we and our partners trained simply melted away – in many cases without firing a shot – took us all by surprise,” Austin told the Senate Armed Services Committee.

“It would be dishonest to claim otherwise.”

Nonsense.  Anyone paying attention would have expected it, and in fact, if I recall correctly, the then Afghani president told Biden and Krew that the Taliban were likely to take over, and Biden asked him to lie about that fact in public.

The only people surprised would most likely be a handful of North Korean peasants.

If he was surprised, it's only because he's an idiot.

Austin and Milley two incompetents, the only two who are less competent to fulfil their positions are Biden and Harris.

Gen. Milley testified that he fully expected a collapse.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Then he is just as culpable as Biden. His lame I'm not going to resign just because the resident doesn't take my advice is crap! Grow a friggin back bone, you resign because, as you say now(was he lying before the congressional hearing or at the congressional hearing) you knew Biden's plan was shit and was going to get Americans and those who aided Americans killed! POS never gave a damn about the troops in his charge, only about protecting his chance at a big payoff in the private sector.
