US jobless claims rise 351,000 in surprise jump
Continuing claims jumped to 2.845M

   By Jonathan Garber FOXBusiness

The number of Americans filing for first-time jobless benefits unexpectedly rose last week.

The Labor Department said Thursday that 351,000 Americans filed for first-time unemployment benefits in the week ended Sept. 18, an increase from the previous week’s upwardly revised 335,000 filings. Analysts surveyed by Refinitiv were expecting 320,00 new filings.

"Despite the rise, claims are still near a pandemic-era low," said Chris Giamo, head of commercial banking at TD Bank.

Continuing claims for the week ended Sept. 11 jumped to 2.845 million, worse than the 2.65 million that analysts were expecting. The prior week’s reading was revised higher by 49,000 to 2.714 million filings.

The increase in continuing claims came a week after the expiration of $300 per week in supplemental unemployment benefits.

About 11.25 million Americans received some form of unemployment assistance, a drop of more than 856,000 from the prior week. More than 26.6 million Americans filed for benefits during the comparable week in 2020.

Surprise jump?  Seriously?  You mandate policies which forces people to lose their jobs over a jab, and then you are surprised when people lose their jobs over a jab?
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

That was my thought.  The "Fact Checkers" will famously say that is false and did not contribute to the new jobless claims.

Still seeing plenty and many help needed signs.  And if anything I am seeing more than even a few weeks ago.

This jump is more likely many millenials seeing their counterparts maintaining their lifestyle with gubmit checks.  The old why should I work syndrome.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

Unemployment pays better than actually working.

Has anyone heard from a Republican?

You will soon when they do absolutely nothing to stop Democrats from getting everything they are asking for (and more).  Democrat will paint Republicans as the ones shutting government down.  And instead of standing tall and taking credit for it, they will cower in silence as enough of them cross the aisle to give Democrats enough taxpayer money to fund their political campaigns for the next ten years.  It how we got to this point in the first place.

Democrats couldn't get away with half the stuff they do without help from the GOP.  (See 2020 election)
