So is naked racism of Bull-Connor-era ilk against the man who may become California's first black governor O.K. so long as a Democrat is doing it?

Apparently so, based on how the Los Angeles Times is covering yesterday's egg-hurling incident.

A leftist white woman, unsubtle as she can get, wearing a gorilla mask, hurled an egg at the head of gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder in Venice, California, nearly hitting him, and then another leftist did the same as Elder was hustled off by his aides into an SUV.

The Los Angeles Times headline, noted by reporter Ryan Saavedra, was incredible:

There are so many examples of naked leftwing hatred towards political opponents these days I'm not sure how much more clear what they intend for us could be.

In a Twitter post, Sheriff Alex Villaneuva asked the question “How is this not a hate crime?”

He then answered his own question, “Because “woke privilege” means a white woman can wear a gorilla mask and attack a black man without fear of being called a racist.” He also wondered why there has been no reaction from politicians, a clear reference to Governor Newsom whom he has clashed with.

“Just imagine the outrage if the roles had been reversed. We would never hear the end of it,” Villanueva said to the Washington Examiner.

He is spot on.  If some white tea partier back in 2012 had donned a gorilla mask and started throwing eggs at Obastard, the level of vitriol, and accusations of racism aimed at all tea partiers - at all conservatives - would have been off the charts.

But, because the racist here is avowedly from the left, all is well with the world.

On Wednesday, the women, Latina Soledad Ursua and Chie Lunn, were walking with California gubernatorial recall candidate Larry Elder as he toured a Venice Beach homeless encampment when a white woman wearing a pink-haired gorilla mask hurled both eggs and racial slurs at the group.
