The 20 U.S. service members who were injured in the deadly attack in Afghanistan last week are recovering at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Stars and Stripes reported on Tuesday.
The service members were injured in the attack that killed 13 U.S. service members, for which ISIS-K, ISIS’s affiliate in Afghanistan, has claimed responsibility. They were first treated at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, where they were stabilized, before returning to the U.S., Stars and Stripes reported.
Walter Reed is located outside Washington, D.C., in Bethesda, Md. The White House did not respond to a request for comment on whether President Biden will visit the service members.
Biden on Sunday participated in the dignified transfer of the remains of the service members who died in the bombing in Afghanistan at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware and met with their families.
There are no details available about the service members who were injured. The 13 service members who died in the attack ranged in age from 20 to 31 and included 11 Marines, one Navy hospitalman and one Army staff sergeant.
