Biden scraps plans to spend night in Delaware
By Morgan Chalfant - 08/20/21 11:58 AM EDT

Just In...

President Biden scrapped plans to travel to his home in Wilmington, Del., on Friday as the White House grapples with the chaotic situation in Afghanistan.

Biden had been scheduled to depart the White House for Wilmington Friday afternoon, but a White House official said that he will no longer be traveling and will instead remain in Washington on Friday night. It’s unclear if he could travel to Wilmington later on in the weekend.

Biden is delivering remarks Friday afternoon on the ongoing effort to evacuate American citizens and Afghans who assisted U.S. forces in the 20-year war.

The Biden administration is under pressure to quickly evacuate tens of thousands of Americans and Afghan allies who are stranded in the country as the Taliban consolidates control.

Who in the White House overruled Biden?
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

Late to his own speech?

Kyle Becker
@kylenabecker
This isn't exactly respectful behavior from the Commander-in-Chief to be late to a press conference like this. It shows a lack of seriousness about his office and sense of urgency about the current situation.

Biden still going to Delaware for the weekend. He’s just leaving tomorrow rather than this afternoon. Pool report of 11.53am clarified at 11.57am.

Obama was always late to pressers.

Obama was always late to pressers.

So was Clinton.  Mike McCurry would plant a microphone in an area where the press members congregated while waiting for Clinton to arrive, and would listen in on their conversations with each other.  That way, he knew what direction their questions would go.

It has amazed me how the press can remain loyal to Dem Presidents considering how they were treated.  Clinton, biden, and especially Obama would make them wait for an hour or more.  The last two would demand that questions be submitted in advance so that they could be vetted.  Compare that with Bush and Trump.  Bush was extremely punctual, never making them wait.  And Trump gave them access more than any other President in history, often calling on reporters who hated him the most.  Today's press are nothing more than a bunch of whores.
