Soooo was trusting the Taliban to help Americans safely get to the airport part of their “contingency plans?”

It’s hard to watch these briefings and not come away with the sense things are going to get much worse in Afghanistan.

It’s hard to watch these briefings and not come away with the sense things are going to get much worse in Afghanistan.

FOX News is reporting that people are being severely beaten trying to make their way to the airport. I can't find that information on the CNN News website.

Posted up thread that the Taliban have the airport surrounded so anyone wanting to get there can't...and that planes are taking off half filled...

The Admin [Sullivan] keeps saying the Taliban are giving Americans safe passage to the airport...well, they're not.

By early evening the Taliban began exerting more control around the airport. Residents living nearby said shops and homes in the neighborhood had been looted but since the Taliban had arrived they felt a bit safer.

At dusk they heard gunfire erupting from the airport as Taliban fighters entered the outer compound of the airport, and opened fire to disperse the crowds.

The Afghan man interviewed earlier in the day said he was about to be processed for departure around 8 p.m., after a wait of more than 36 hours, when the Taliban arrived and began beating people to break up the crowd.

“They beat us with their rifle butts and I am slightly injured,” he said. His wife and son also caught blows, he said. “It was a very dangerous situation but we managed to escape. Thank God that we managed to get out of the airport. I am going back home.”

In a harbinger of the harsh rule that many Afghans have dreaded, the Taliban allowed people to leave the airport but one employee of a European organization who was trying to enter the airport was told that no one would be allowed to leave the country now without permission from the “new government.”

In a video posted on Facebook a Taliban commander driving a government police pickup truck outside the airport was asked about the hundreds of people seeking to fly out of the country. “They should not go,” he answered. “We will be here and we will bring peace and security now that we have left the corrupt regime behind us.”

Two things we've learned from this press briefing - 1) The President has not spoken with any other world leaders since Kabul fell; 2) The WH will not firmly commit to ensuring the safe departure of every American from Afghanistan. Remarkable.

I think we have to start considering the fact that the Biden admin may be completely compromised by the Chinese and are getting marching orders from them.

Many people have been considering that since the Hunter Biden laptop revelations. It was pretty apparent from those that he was getting money from a Chinese bank in return for access to his father.

It isn't that hard to believe. The Taliban want all westerners out of there ASAP. With those eyes gone they are free to do whatever they want with complete impunity.

Kill a bunch of Americans fleeing and we'll have no choice but to send the military back in - the last thing the Taliban want.

I thought that 6,000 troops were supposed to go back in to secure the airport??

It goes even further (I've provided several links before) -- there is indeed a China/Biden connection.  That was uncovered by Glenn Beck when he was researching Burisma and then Wuhan. IMO  China -- Fauci -- Biden steals election ---  now this.

Either this is a continuation of Obama's agenda or/and it involves the Chinese.  Joe is merely a pawn.

At this point, the Taliban have zero worry that the US will send the military back in.  We simply are not in a position to do that.  In 2001, we relied heavily on basing in Uzbekistan.  That base is no longer available to us.  Pakistan?  There is no way they would do anything to piss off the Taliban.  We'd be lucky to get their permission to fly over their territory.  Qatar?  Saudi Arabia?  Not going to happen.

I am also very concerned about the 6,000 (maybe it's 7,000) that China Joe is sending back over there! 

The area should have been secured first, Americans and our allies removed from the area and then make an exit. What he has done and what is being done seems back asswards to me.

Yep, now they will receive enemy fire from their own weapons.

Biden has stabbed our military in the back.

Being told the Intel community was on board for May 1 withdrawal. Meant US could withdraw during winter season when Taliban couldn’t mobilize. Biden blew it by making withdrawal for Sept 11. Allowed Taliban to mobilize during summer season.
