New York first state to declare disaster emergency on gun violence

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced an executive order at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City in response to gun violence that he said is leading to rising crime rates throughout the state and causing people to want to stay home even in a "post-COVID" era with lifted restrictions.

His executive order outlines several steps aimed at curbing gun violence: treating gun violence as a public health emergency, using data to target hot spots, encouraging positive engagement to at-risk youth, breaking the cycle of escalating violence, and getting illegal guns off the streets.

Cuomo took a swipe at former President Donald Trump during his remarks, saying he had a "vision of a border war" with a "magic border wall" that would allow migrants to pass while stopping the flow of illegal guns, 74% of which Cuomo said come from out of state.

We have no such emergency here in Texas. Starting 1 September we will enjoy "Constitutional Carry" where every legal gun owner will be allowed to carry concealed or open, without a permit or registration. (We've NEVER had a permit or registration requirement to own a gun.)

Gun violence is a PEOPLE problem, not a gun problem. As a native New Yorker that retired in Texas, I know Texas is a lot safer place to live than New York.

The real emergency is covering Cuomo's butt over claims of misbehaviour and mishandling COVID....

this is the smokescreen.

New York has been in the top ten violent death zones in the US for some time.

It's just an attempt to use the successful covid-19 "public health emergency" as a template for terminating everyone's Second Amendment rights, and then moving right on to forced seizure of all privately held guns.

NY (and other blue states) limiting 2d Amendment rights. "Constitutional Carry" (unfettered open and concealed carry) for all legal gun owners in Texas starts 1 September.

Federal authorities ignoring immigration laws and opening borders wide. Texas taking on the job and protecting its own border with Mexico. Ten states sending assistance.

Texas seeing its federal tax money being given away to illegals for free medical and various "welfare".

Texas banning CRT while blue states embrace CRT.

Texas supporting police while blue states "defund" police.

Crime from murder to rioting, looting to senseless assault rampant in blue states while Texas remains safe.

Texas pulls its National Guard out of "Fortress Washington, DC" in defiance of the administration.

Texas, the second largest oil producing state, embraces continued oil production while blue states ban efforts to continue such efforts.

Can anyone spell SECESSION?

Texas is by far the largest oil producing state  not 2nd.

If you have Google Earth, go to the location of the shooting: 40°45'08.20N  73°52'05.50W.

Now go to street view (Imagery date: 10/2019). It answers your question.

No thanks,been there and done that when I was in the army in the Dominican Republic. Even caught a bus,and then a donkey cart to go to Haiti,just to say I been there and to look around. Went AWOL to do it and didn't even tell any of my friends I was going because it was a spur of the  moment thing,and aren't ALL our ideas brilliant when we are drunk?

Didn't get killed and didn't get caught,so it all worked out.

I got Cuomo's book about his actions during the covid thing.  I am half way through the book and no mention yet of nursing homes.  Have not had the time to skim rest of book looking for that.
