Canada to ban sale of new fuel-powered cars and light trucks from 2035

Canada will ban the sale of fuel-burning new cars and light-duty trucks from 2035 in an effort to reach net-zero emissions across the country by 2050, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government said on Tuesday.

Only zero-emissions cars and trucks can be sold from 2035, according to a statement, adding that a mixture of investments and regulations will help industry transition toward that goal. The government also said it will set interim targets for 2025 and 2030....

Britain said last year it would ban fuel-powered vehicles from 2030, while the United States has yet to fix a date. California, the largest U.S. auto market, said last year it would move to electric vehicles starting in 2035, and the Canadian province of Quebec has set the same target.

British Columbia is phasing out fuel-powered cars and trucks with a total ban coming into effect in 2040....

California has prohibited EV owners from charging their vehicles when it gets to warm..........or has California requested that EV owners shift their Charging to non peak hours when it hot and there is high load? There is a difference.

Makes you wonder if the folks in Ottowa know how far it is from Regina to Saskatoon...or Calgary.

All this crap is from city folks who never leave town or have mass transit options. Rural areas commonly have large distances between the main towns and up north, weather that kills. This stupidity is going to cost lives, especially when weather takes out the grid.

Are the idiots in Canada's government aware of how reliant the nation's farmers are on vehicles like trucks? Electric ones are not terribly practical in the wide open spaces.

EV's work so well in sub freezing temps.  Funny how electric current does that.  But hey, It never freezes in Canada...and it never rains in So California.
