Trump has been receiving presidential pension since January: report
By Olafimihan Oshin - 05/18/21 04:55 PM EDT

Former President Trump has been receiving a presidential pension since he left office in January, Business Insider reported Tuesday

A spokesperson for the General Services Administration confirmed to Insider that Trump has been paid $65,000 in presidential pension through May 14.

Former presidents are entitled to receive pensions after their terms under the Former Presidents Act, which Congress passed in 1958 largely in response to former President Truman's financial troubles after leaving office in 1953.

According to Insider, presidents are paid the equivalent of Cabinet secretaries' salaries.

Trump, who publicly boasted about his financial earnings from his business throughout his presidency, donated his presidential salary to federal agencies.

More than he was worth.

He still owes the US for all that inflation.

Carter's work with Habitat for Humanity has been admirable, but given what happened to interest rates during his presidency he's still millions of houses behind in atoning for the damage he did.

Ok ... and this is a big deal because why?
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Is this supposed to be scandalous? He's legally entitled to it and isn't violating any statutes or regulation. Unlike Carter or any other president, he also gave back some $1.6 million in salary, didn't he?

My math, which may be faulty, comes out to about $16,250 per month, or $195,000 per year. Just guessing.

Seems like enough for any other retiree in America.

Not to denigrate the greatest president in my lifetime, but we don't owe those people a living.   Truman had financial trouble after he left the White House.  Boo hoo hoo and all that, but how much pension does a man deserve for a four year stint?

IMO people in elective office should get no pension.  They call themselves public servants.   So let them serve as an honor to us then they can get back to their life of earning a living for themselves.

This includes the President.

As I recall, and I might be wrong about this, but as I recall, Governor Clinton of New York, he who started the Erie Canal that made New York the Empire State, died a poor man.    That was typical of many politicians of the old American era.

And what is wrong with that?  Do the entire body of a state's taxpayers owe the ex-governors they didn't vote for a permanent life wage?  Why?  Out of "feelings"?

Pension
Former presidents are offered a taxable lifetime pension equal to the annual rate of basic pay for the heads of executive branch departments, like the Cabinet Secretaries. This amount is set annually by Congress and as of 2020 was $210,700 per year.

The pension starts the minute the president officially leaves office at noon on Inauguration Day. Widows of former presidents are provided with a $20,000 annual lifetime pension and free postage use unless they choose to waive their right to the pension.

In 1974, the Justice Department ruled that presidents who resign from office before their official terms of office expire are entitled to the same lifetime pension and benefits extended to other former presidents. However, presidents who are removed from office due to impeachment forfeit all benefits.

Pension. The Secretary of the Treasury pays a taxable pension to the president. Former presidents receive a pension equal to the salary of a Cabinet secretary (Executive Level I); as of 2020, it is $219,200 per year. The pension begins immediately after a president's departure from office.

By law, former presidents are entitled to a pension, staff, office expenses, medical care, health insurance, and Secret Service protection.

Pension

The Secretary of the Treasury pays a taxable pension to the president. Former presidents receive a pension equal to the salary of a Cabinet secretary (Executive Level I); as of 2020, it is $219,200 per year.[5] The pension begins immediately after a president's departure from office.[6] A former president's spouse may also be paid a lifetime annual pension of $20,000 if they relinquish any other statutory pension.[2]

Transition

Transition funding for the expenses of leaving office is available for seven months. It covers office space, staff compensation, communications services, and printing and postage associated with the transition.[2]

Staff and office

Private office staff and related funding is provided by the Administrator of the General Services Administration. People employed under this subsection are selected by and responsible only to the former president for the performance of their duties. Each former president fixes basic rates of compensation for persons employed for them, not exceeding an annualized total of $150,000 for the first 30 months and $96,000 thereafter.[2][7]

Medical insurance

Former presidents are entitled to medical treatment in military hospitals; they pay for this at rates set by the Office of Management and Budget. Two-term presidents may buy health insurance under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program.[2]

Couldn't agree more. I also don't believe we owe their families USSS protection.
