Wouldn't a two state solution need two states? 

How does annexing the Gaza Strip and West Bank translate into Israel not being a country?  (IMHO, this is the more perilous route for Israel's newly passed "Jewish State of Israel" law).

In 1967, the West Bank was part of Jordan, and Gaza was occupied by Egypt.  Did that bring peace to Israel?

Is this constant war bringing peace to Israel?  No.  And Israel is rapidly losing majority support in Western countries among the generations assuming power.

I'd like to see Israel get out of this damn mess.  I'd like to see Palestine get out of this damn mess.

But it's going to take new leadership -- across the board -- able to see beyond this mutually satisfying suicide pact.

I wasn't aware that this was a popularity contest.  btw, Israel has never had majority support in "Western countries".  There were only two countries in the entire world that supported Israel in the '73 war.  The US and the Netherlands.

What it's going to take is acceptance of the Jewish state in greater Canaan by everyone involved.  It is also going to take recognition of anyone labeled 'Palestinian' to emigrate to any other 'muslim' country.  Israel has already proven its acceptance of both terms in that it accepts a 'Palestinian' state, and that it allows 'Palestinians' to settle into Israel.

This is part of my earlier point ---  young Muslims now reside throughout the West and their opinion is fortifying a younger generation that is not, in the majority, pro-Israel.  They only know this Israel spread all over the Internet and newspapers:  A bully at war.   Face it, the Palestinians are now David, and the Israelis are now Goliath.  Nobody likes Goliath.

It's been 54 years.  Israel, as the power, needs to figure out what she she really wants. 

If Israel wants the land for the diaspora -- without the indigenous people living there --  then she needs to admit this and act accordingly.  Israel can either sit down and negotiate the transfer of the Palestinians to Jordan and Egypt --- or the IDF can give 72 hours notice --- and then kill them all.

Or Israel can formerly annex the occupied territories and hope this provision in the "Jewish Nation State" law holds firm:   “the right to exercise national self-determination” in Israel is “unique to the Jewish people”.

Or Israel can extract the assurances she needs that the Jewish Nation State of Israel will continue to exist as part of a two-state solution with the Palestinians; and then make it so.

Israel must decide how to end this.  Or once the generational power changes hands fully, it will be decided for them.  :shrug:
