Oakland, California, Mayor Libby Schaaf (D) announced a program that offers poor minority families $500 a month. Poor white families are excluded for the sin of being white. However, illegal aliens qualify.

Per the Daily Mail, “An estimated 10,000 of Oakland’s 435,000 population are white residents who live in poverty,” but they will receive nothing, and only because they are white.

Here is how you qualify for Oakland’s no-questions-asked $500 a month:

    You must have at least one child
    Your income must be at or below 50 percent of Oakland’s median income
    You must not be white

The excuse for excluding whitey, per the far-left Associate Press, is that “White households in Oakland on average make about three times as much annually than black households[.]”

Yeah, but, um, 10,000 white households do not.

Okay, but they are still white. Duh.

Officials in Oakland, California, announced the launch of a guaranteed income pilot program this week that will provide direct monthly payments to low-income minority families in the city.

The initiative, which is one of the largest guaranteed income experiments to be conducted in the United States to date, aims to find out if providing regular payments low-income families will lift them from their economic plight.
What are the details?

The program, called Oakland Resilient Families, will send 600 families in the city $500-a-month payments over the next 18 months as part of an effort to eliminate racial wealth inequalities in the city, which the program argues is the result of "ongoing systemic racism."

Some twenty years ago I had to go up to Oakland to repair some fume hoods I had valved, pre piped and wired because some union cretin was pissed that they were done in a non union shop. Oakland was bad news even then and I vowed never to go back and had the same feelings for San Francisco after going through back in 1984. Oh I made sure that I carried a loaded gun all the time I was in Oakland, it just made me feel safer.

Back in '96 Mrs. PeteS and I volunteered at a regional homeschooling convention at the Oakland Convention Center. I was nervous about it back then, though on convention day, a Saturday, the business area around the facility was so deserted that it was little short of rolling up the sidewalks.
