FBI facing allegation that its 2018 background check of Brett Kavanaugh was ‘fake’

The FBI is facing new scrutiny for its 2018 background check of Brett Kavanaugh, the supreme court justice, after a lawmaker suggested that the investigation may have been “fake”.

Sheldon Whitehouse, a Democratic senator and former prosecutor who serves on the judiciary committee, is calling on the newly-confirmed attorney general, Merrick Garland, to help facilitate “proper oversight” by the Senate into questions about how thoroughly the FBI investigated Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing.

The supreme court justice was accused of sexual assault by Christine Blasey Ford and faced several other allegations of misconduct following Ford’s harrowing testimony of an alleged assault when she and Kavanaugh were in high school.

Kavanaugh denied the claims.

The FBI was called to investigate the allegations during the Senate confirmation process but was later accused by some Democratic senators of conducting an incomplete background check. For example, two key witnesses – Ford and Kavanaugh – were never interviewed as part of the inquiry.

Among the concerns listed in Whitehouse’s letter to Garland are allegations that some witnesses who wanted to share their accounts with the FBI could not find anyone at the bureau who would accept their testimony and that it had not assigned any individual to accept or gather evidence.

Democrat Senator Suggests FBI Investigation of Kavanaugh Is ‘Fake’

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) asked U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland last Thursday to look into the 2018 FBI background investigation of Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is pressing newly-appointed U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland to take a closer look at the 2018 FBI investigation into allegations of sexual assault against Associate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh raised during his confirmation hearing. In the March 11 letter to Garland, Whitehouse suggested the original investigation might have been “politically constrained,” perhaps even “fake.”

The Rhode Island Democrat accused the FBI of refusing to accept evidence corroborating the testimony of Dr. Christine Blasey-Ford, claiming witnesses like Partnership for Public Service CEO Max Stier “‘tried in vain to reach the F.B.I. on their own,’ but could find no one at the Bureau willing to accept their testimony.”

Furthermore, Whitehouse challenged the FBI’s use of a “tip line” meant to collect further testimony. “This ‘tip line’ appears to have operated more like a garbage chute, with everything that came down the chute consigned without review to the figurative dumpster,” Whitehouse wrote.

This is how the beginning of impeachment and removal of conservative justices occur.

Declare the vetting was faked, then 'new' information is found that incriminates Kavanaugh making false statements.  Then Dems doing their 'patriotic duty' to remove someone undeserving.

It will happen again and again.

A notable reaction, in large part because this appears to be just about the only reaction to Sheldon Whitehouse’s nonsense letter to Merrick Garland. Ben Sasse (R-NE), who isn’t exactly a Trumpian voice on the Senate floor, blasted the Rhode Island Democrat’s “paranoid obsession” with Brett Kavanaugh. The demand for a new review of the FBI’s background checks is “sinister,” Sasse wrote to the National Review, and suggested Whitehouse join a “conspiracy theory book club” and get fitted for a tinfoil hat instead:

“If senators want to join conspiracy theory book clubs, wear tinfoil hats, and talk about Roswell, that’s their prerogative, but this is something more sinister,” Sasse, who is on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said in a comment to National Review.

“A United States Senator who once peddled lies about a Supreme Court nominee is now trying to weaponize the DOJ against a sitting Supreme Court Justice,” the Nebraska Republican added. “This kind of paranoid obsession is Nixonian poison to public trust.”

Whitehouse has always struck me as a total perv.  Why else would he go down this rabbit hole.

It could possibly be a pretext for yet another fraudulent impeachment show.

Removal still requires a 2/3 vote in the Senate.  The Rodents know this, of course. 

Which makes it likely that this is a precursor step to the advancement of their goal of packing the Supreme Court with more Rodents.
