Here's the problem with the left. They think saying it makes it so.
True enough. But they also believe that
facts don't matter, only the story matters.
The "story" refers to a preferred narrative about whatever issue may be utilized as a means of achieving power and control, which is always,
always their goal.
So for example, in the present instance they have fabricated tales of "children being ripped away from their loving parents who just wanted to have a better life" (the "narrative").
The purpose is to avoid the dominant reality of children transported by complete strangers (who are frequently criminals or undesirables in their own countries) so that once admitted, they may become "anchors" to allow the importation of their entire extended families.
The inevitable result of what Progressives tell us is just and moral and equitable is precisely what we have seen in America over the part 30 years: swelling ranks of permanent, multi-generational government dependents who do not speak our language or share our values or culture, and who vote for Democrats in vast numbers. Yes, Ginger, we do have a "morality problem" after all: who needs freedom and independence - or even a job - when the government gives you everything for free?
