WASHINGTON, (BM) – Lockheed Martin and the production of fifth-generation F-35 fighters for the US military are facing difficult times. The Pentagon considers a strange decision – to replace the F-35s scheduled for replenishment in the US Army with the latest version of the F-16.

On February 17, Charles Brown, commander of the US Air Force, told reporters again that 4++ generation fighters could replace the F-35s planned for production and commissioning. The reasons are not technical [although they exist – ed.], but rather financial.

@sneakypete, the article is from "BulgarianMilitary.com", whatever they are. IF an updated and up-rated F-16 is in the works, like the F-15EX, it's more likely to replace the oldest in the USAF's F-16 fleet than to replace F-35s.

OOPS! My bad. My apologies.

BTW,I could easily be wrong twice on this one thread,but I THINK Bulgaria is one of these eastern European nations trying to emerge from communism.

Seems like nobody that has actually lived under communism wants to continue,not even the former leaders.

Other that western nations whose leaders think it would be just peachy-keen to rule a police state,that is.
