The Electric Reliability Council of Texas on Friday declared this week’s state of emergency over during a press conference and apologized for ]the misery Texans have suffered.

“I want to acknowledge the immense human suffering we saw,” ERCOT President and CEO Bill Magness said. “When people lose power, there are heartbreaking consequences.”

Power has been restored to almost all CenterPoint Energy customers in Texas nearly a week after the winter storm left millions in the dark, the regulated utility company said Friday.

Fewer than 7,000 customers who still don't have power were expected to be reconnected by the end of Friday, the company said.  CenterPoint, the regulated utility that transmits power to the Houston region, has more than 1.39 million customers. The last reconnections should be completed by the end of the day, the company said.
