97 is indeed a good run. I'm surprised Sen. Dole is pursuing treatment. I knew younger men (age 80 or so) who decided it wasn't worth it at their age.

Speaking as someone who has gone though chemo and radiation,I'm surprised, too. The treatment is enough to kill you if the cancer doesn't. I honestly don't know if I would have even taken the treatment if I had known what it was going to do to me,and I am a LOT younger than Bob Dolt.
Don't get me wrong. I will NEVER tell someone with cancer to not get the treatment,or tell them what it does to you. Different people react in different ways to the same treatment, and my bad experiences may have been due to MY individual body chemistry, the type of cancer I have,a combination of the two,or any other unknown factor.
If someone wants to take it,good for them and i wish them well.
Hell,if/when the cancer comes back I will probably take anything they give me,working under the theory I no longer have much for it to take away from me. Truth to tell,if they killed any more brain cells I wouldn't know if I was harmed or not.
