Winter electricity demand could reach an all-time high as frigid temperatures move into Texas, the state's grid manager said Thursday.

An extremely cold air mass that has begun moving south across the central United States could make it to the Gulf of Mexico, with subfreezing temperatures expected to hit Houston beginning this weekend.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which manages the flow of power to more than 26 million Texas customers, has asked generators to prepare their facilities for the extreme cold, including reviewing fuel supplies and planned outages .

The current winter demand record is 65,915 megawatts set from 7 to 8 a.m., Jan. 17, 2018.

Wooo hooo.....

Just can't wait in a few years for all those neat wind thingamajigs and solar walls keeping me nice and toasty on a cold February day.  /s
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

Will that coincide with the push to build new homes all electric only like the liberals are pushing for in parts of California?
