McCaskill: Many Republican Senators Will Vote to Convict Trump

Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) predicted Monday on MSNBC that many Republican Senators will vote to convict President Donald Trump after the House managers present their impeachment case, but the final tally will fall short of the 17 needed.

McCaskill said, “What Liz Cheney has done is remarkable. She has stood up with courage and said, ‘Enough. I’m going to lead the non-Trump Republican Party. We don’t want Donald Trump to be the face of our party anymore. This is what I’m doing.’ Now, will anyone else besides Mitt Romney join her? There were people that were defending her in the Senate.”

She continued, “This is just a fig leaf, this argument that they have no jurisdiction over a president who has left office. It’s a fig leaf. It is what they’re most comfortable doing. Their muscle memory the last four years is too high under the desk. This gives them a way to hide under the desk. They don’t have to say that what Donald Trump did is despicable and deserving of some kind of accountability. They can just hang their hat on this technicality.”

She added, “Now interesting, I’m told, they’re going to vote again on whether or not to proceed is constitutional. The first vote was a procedural vote as to whether or not it should be debated. It was to table the debate. I’m told they are now going to debate and vote again, because there are a couple of Republicans that want to weigh in on the side of Liz Cheney and the sane Republicans that are left. So this will be an interesting week. There will defiantly be Republicans that vote to convict. Now how many there will be? We still don’t know. I’m not optimistic they get to 17, but I think they’ll definitely have more than one.”

My hunch is I think it may surprise some people of how many GOP are going to vote to convict. They're not going to be voting according to the Constitution they are going to be voting in order to save their seats from the wrath of the DEM mob and their contempt for Trump.

IF Trump succeeds in NOT being convicted it to me symbolizes a very small glimmer of hope.  All eyes (and I believe around the world) are waiting to see what happens.

If 4 - 6 is many, then yah, many will vote for Trump's impeachment.  Many is subjective.  However, not enough to result in his being impeached.

AND I SAY THIS PLAINLY, ANY REPUBLICAN VOTING TO IMPEACH TRUMP WILL BE PRIMARIED, AND 80% OF THEM WILL BE SENT PACKING!!!  AMEN!!!

If I order a burger at a diner, and I can count the fries on the plate with a glance, I do not have 'many' fries. A heap of fries with little room for the burger on the plate would be 'many'.

We need to know who our enemies are in deed and fact.

It's the only way to eliminate them from office.

THey are going to vote to save themselves from being outed with the dirt the Dems have on them. They may have dirt on the Dems, too, but between censorship on every platform and the Dems in control, that will never see the light of day, so it doesn't matter. That is truly wishful thinking. Very few will be primary and if they are so what ? If they lose which few will they get replaced by another RINO. How many times do people keep going this route to find out NOTHING changes in the Republican Party. Only way it changes is a NEW opposition party gets formed and challenges the UNIPARTY. Otherwise hang on the worse is yet to COME!

PS: Don't be surprised that the Smuck and China Mitch did not agree on a secret voting for the impeachment.?

Despite lie and deny, some Republicans have gone home to very enraged constituents and have decided or are considering to drop out of politics.  I think 80% might be a low estimate.
The 'secret democrats' want to convince you otherwise.
