Fauci tells children: 'I vaccinated Santa Claus myself'

Top infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci joked Saturday that he "vaccinated Santa Claus" himself, seeking to reassure children that the beloved North Pole dweller has received his COVID-19 shot.

Fauci, appearing in a Sesame Street-themed COVID-19 town hall on CNN, answered questions from several children on how Santa would safely make his deliveries during the coronavirus pandemic.

"Will Santa still be able to visit me in coronavirus season?" one child asked. "What if he can't go to anyone's house or near his reindeer?"


Fauci responded with a smile, saying, "I took care of that for you because I was worried that you all would be upset."

"So what I did a little while ago ... I took a trip up there to the North Pole, and I vaccinated Santa Claus myself. I measured his level of immunity, and he is good to go. He can come down the chimney. He can leave the presents. You have nothing to worry about," Fauci added.

Is it just me?..is this guy sick!...let the kids have Christmas without bringing up Covid shit..I am sick of this guy.

Good for Fauci.  Children know about this disease because they cannot go to places they used to go, parents put masks on them, and they are in and out of school due to this disease.  They see TV, see doctors, see hospital rooms, they are not isolated from this disease.

Besides, Fauci didn't vaccinate St Nick - Trump did.

Well I have a 6yo grandson who is a worrier to begin with and you can't even mention Covid in front of him..he's constantly worried his parents or especially his grandparents will get it and die.

Santa is an essential worker. I follow him every year on NORAD Santa Tracker.

Some people are children at heart and the holidays bring it out. It’s my most favorite time of year.

There are, of course, individual differences to be considered.  Your 6 yr. old needs to be reassured the parents and grandparents are taking precautions and will be fine.

When I was a counselor/psychological examiner in a jr. high school, a parent came to me and said she had to force her male child to come to school - that he was afraid of school.

I met with the child and asked why he did not want to go to school.  He said his grandmother had died and he is afraid to leave the house, thinking his parents would die if he left the house.

He wasn't afraid of school, he was afraid of leaving the house, period.
I called his mother and when child got home, the parents assured him they would not die if he left the house.
