A political litmus test for Republicans: Fail it, lose your TV slot
Time for a rapid test for the voter fraud delusion
Washington Post, Dec 3, 2020, Matt Negrin

Almost a month has passed since Joe Biden won the election, and the Republican Party still refuses to acknowledge him as president-elect. With hardly any exceptions, Republicans in Congress support President Trump’s lie that imaginary voter fraud stole the election from him.

Unfortunately, there is no vaccine for this delusion. But journalists in the news business do have the power to stop the spread of this dangerous disinformation by quarantining this conspiracy theory to where it belongs — Fox News, Newsmax and One America News — rather than allowing it to infect viewers of real news outlets.

It starts with rapid testing. And unlike the coronavirus rapid tests, this test is 100 percent reliable.

Whenever Republicans appear on a news show, the first question to them must be: “Do you acknowledge that Biden won the election and that he is president-elect?” If the Republican politician doesn’t say yes, they’ve failed the test and are at risk of spreading disinformation. The host of the show has an obligation to viewers to stop the interview there and say goodbye.

If an interview subject is willing to lie about a fact so plainly obvious and integral to American democracy — “the election is real and it happened” — we have to assume they’re willing to lie about anything. Real news outlets don’t interview flat-earthers or Sandy Hook truthers like Alex Jones for this very reason: Platforming conspiracy theorists is dangerous and offering them airtime validates their beliefs. Why aren’t TV news networks applying the same approach to the Republican Party’s election truthers?

Administering this bad-faith test may be awkward and unpleasant, but it’s the only way to safely proceed with live interviews with Republicans who may be carrying a dangerous conspiracy theory that spreads on air.

"Dangerous conspiracy theory" --- like the media's four year Russia collusion obsession?

The media is seriously out of control.  I've no idea how to stop them.

Its always nice to know who has blind, festering fealty to a cult leader, and who is honest about reality and will risk the scorn of his cultists.

The former amounting to approximately half of the nation, apparently.

Keep it up. The powers of persuasion you're employing here should meet with wild success.

Ill keep it up if I think I have a halfway decent shot of one republican or conservative deciding to come back to the light.  So yes. I support Republicans being asked this because a mass delusion/idiocy is entrenched now in this party

And you call us cult members.

I'm not the one who believes claims of massive fraud in every possible way from dominion machines to the post office to poll watchers to counters.  Thousands of people who let the Republicans win house seats, only changed the presidential vote, knew which masses of ballots to discard and which to keep.

All this was being organized undetected and undeterred.  And is completely known about without a single person coming forward, or any actual evidence. And the head of cyber security said it was secure. The head of the doj said there was no evidence of fraud.

But believe trump and giuliani, right?

But the affadavits!  Totally reliable people, totally honest!  None of them have been in a courtroom yet.

And let not forget the republican governers, secretaries of states, and legislatures under which this all happened.  And funny enough not a single thing about any fraud in states trump won.  Guess those elections were honest?

Yes. I think we should know which of our representatives believes in truth and which are conniving anti americans

Reflective that you would raise the cult issue.
Some commentary reminds of Koresh and his Davidians
who brought death to his followers; including more
than 30 infants and toddlers at the Waco, Texas siege.
As you're well aware, blind loyalty is the path to obliteration.

Blind loyalty - such as to a political party which has promised year after year, that, if elected, they’ll not raise taxes, build the wall, ban publicly financed abortion, appoint constitutionalist judges, etc etc. Yet once in do nothing but secure their privileged positions link arms with their esteemed colleagues across the aisle and jump on the gravy train? That kind of blind loyalty?

You have no idea what has happened over these past five years.  You STILL think this was a battle of liberal vs conservative.  You are so neck deep in this fabricated battle, so invested in a label,  that you miss the most conservative American leader, quite possibly ever, is leading this country away from Socialism on every front --- and 74 million Americans march with him.

And your ignorance continues.  You have no idea what is happening here, today.  You think you're going to use these events to return the Republican Party to the purity of John McCain and Mitt Romney.  Even more absurd is your belief that the next national election will prove you were right all along --- if you can just get Trump out of the way.

Sparky, if we don't get this election righted, your political existence is moot and you will die under the ashes you're expecting to rise from.  Not only will the Socialists and Marxists ignore and laugh at you, so , too, will supporters of the President you so gleefully spit upon, even in this battle.  The bitter irony for you is Donald Trump needs to win this so your political future doesn't turn to dust.

Quote
The anger of Trump’s supporters is white hot, it is incendiary, it is real and it is entirely, eminently justifiable, and it is not the anger of the loser, it is the anger of the wronged and is about so much more than Trump, this is about the democratic future of the United States of America.

When a country reaches the point of such legal corruption and such moral degeneracy that democracy can be overturned in full view of a complicit and unquestioning media there is very little guarantee that democracy will ever recover.

Oh, darn. They'll lose their CNN time. What a loss.

And yet, what are the fastest-growing news networks in America right now? The upstarts like NewsmaxTV that don't fall privy to the WaPo's demands.

I suppose any interviewer has the right to decide the subject of the interview and who they will interview. No elected official is entitled to a network interview.

But I doubt the WaPo would demand the same if Trump won reelection from any Democrat

You are so neck deep in this fabricated battle, that you miss the most conservative American leader, quite possibly ever, is leading this country away from Socialism.
------------------------------------------
Principled Conservativism is the body & soul of enduring precepts that govern human conduct
involving attitudes, behaviors, impulses and sentiments, having absolutely nothing, NOTHING,
to do w/politics.
Its greatest minds included Confucius, Plato, Marcus Cato, Aquinas, Goethe, Locke & Burke; among many dozens.
Trump certainly is many things but most emphatically will never be mentioned in the company of these Men, by any serious person!

They're covering this past election fraud, if that’s what you’re referring to. It is a pretty big story, in spite of what Fox and CNN say.
