Biden takes Arizona, first Democrat to win there since 1996

President-elect Joe Biden is projected to win Arizona, making him the first Democrat to win the state since 1996.

The projection comes over a week after polls closed on Election Day.

Multiple news outlets called the race in Biden’s favor around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night. Fox News was the first outlet to call the state in Biden’s favor last week, which drew the ire of President Trump and his allies.


The Associated Press had also called the race in Biden’s favor last week.

Biden’s win is largely credited to Maricopa County, the state’s most populous county which is home to Phoenix, as well as an influx of young and Latino voters changing the demographics of the state.

Arizona’s Top Election Official Once Called Trump’s Supporters Neo-Nazis

The official who is responsible for certifying the election in Arizona is a staunch NeverTrumper who once said President Trump panders to his “neo-Nazi base.”

Katie Hobbs, Arizona’s Secretary of State, registered her disgust with the president and his supporters on Twitter in August of 2017.

The democrats were brainstorming the demise and destruction of America and the Trump administration for years. and moved from impeachment coup failure to using Soros money to overthrow the election, and multifacted attacks using fraud like the 4 yr coup attempt.  Either you fight for your Country or learn to eat rat.  History repeating itself can be bitterly cruel. ****slapping

Donald Trump will be the last Republican to win a presidential election in Arizona.

I hope to live long enough to be proven wrong in that prognostication.

And yet, they have a repub governor and legislature.  Trump is very unpopular in the west.  It isn't just the hispanic thing.  Dubya won Arizona by double digits, carried Nevada, Colorado, and New Mexico.  Trump lost Nevada and wasn't even competitive in Colorado or New Mexico.  Dubya lost California by 10 -- Trump lost it by 30.  Were it not for Biden's gaffe in the final debate, Texas would have been close as well.

All three of those states have "changed" considerably since Dubya's time.
They've tipped to the left and probably won't be "tipping back".
Particularly Colorado.
New Mexico (after California) is now the second state where Anglos are a minority.

Arizona -- sandwiched in between CA and NM (with Mexico "below") has withstood "the pressures" for a long time, but it, too, is not immune. It won't even be a "purple state" that many years longer.
