Vice President Mike Pence‘s chief of staff, Marc Short, was diagnosed with Covid-19, but Pence remains healthy and “will maintain his schedule in accordance with CDC guidelines.†Four other Pence aides also tested positive and have begun quarantine and contact-tracing.
Pence’s press secretary announced the news on Saturday: “Today, Marc Short — Chief of Staff to the Vice President — tested positive for Covid-19, began quarantine and assisting in the contact-tracing process. Vice President Pence and Mrs. Pence both tested negative for Covid-19 today, and remain in good health.â€
The statement added: “In consultation with the White House Medical Unit, the Vice President will maintain his schedule in accordance with the CDC guidelines for essential personnel.â€
Pence’s senior political adviser, Marty Obst, also tested positive. Obst is not a government employee.
