Twitter is now banning tweets from official government scientists if their messages deviate from Twitter’s COVID dogma.
On Sunday, Twitter banned the tweets of Trump’s top COVID adviser, Dr. Scott Atlas, who had tweeted that the latest research shows that mask-wearing is not very effective in stopping the coronavirus from spreading, NBC News reported.
Now, instead of Dr. Atlas’s tweet, users get a message that says, “this tweet no longer available.â€
Per NBC:
The tweet in question, posted Saturday by Dr. Scott Atlas, read: “Masks work? NO: LA, Miami, Hawaii, Alabama, France, Phlippnes, UK, Spain, Israel. WHO: ‘widespread use not supported’ + many harms; Heneghan/Oxf CEBM:’despite decades, considerable uncertainty re value’; CDC rvw May:’no sig red’n in inflnz transm’n’; learn why.â€
In a follow-up tweet posted later Saturday, Atlas wrote: “That means the right policy is @realDonaldTrump guideline: use masks for their intended purpose — when close to others, especially hi risk. Otherwise, social distance. No widespread mandates.â€
