The only thing "new" about this is they are making it formal. It's been going on for decades.
I just hope there are no "staking out turf" games to be played now that senior brass is getting involved. It has always been done "on the fly" before by the people from both branches who would actually be involved in the airborne and ground operations getting together and agreeing on how it would work.
Make it formal,and involve senior Colonels who want to make Generals,and actual Generals,and it will be more about penis measuring and service rivalries than working together.
That's the nature of General Officers.
