I dedicate this to Mysty, who either is too stupid to know that I am a bad egg, or who puts up with me anyway. Whichever it is , this is to her...

Thanks EC, that's a beautiful song.  Lando's grief over his beloved father brought me to my own feelings about things the way they are right now.  Kind of a sad time overall.  Just been kind of softly crying this evening.

We're supposed to get some snow tonight, after midnight.  That will cheer me up some.  I'm like a kid when it comes to snow.

So sorry, Lando!  I apologize for missing this!

Prayers for you and your family.

Thank you DCP.  It means a lot.

I'm so sorry Lando.  I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.  My mother has taken a turn for the worse,  so I know the sadness you are feeling.  Prayers up.

I'm just now catching up on this thread.  Thank you all for the musical contributions, which are so very welcome in what are very sad times for so many of us. And it's evidently not merely the depressing political tenor of the times that weighs upon us.

Lando: prayers for your dad.

And Alicewonders: prayers for your mom as well.

And the same to all here assembled who have had an awful, difficult year.

My family has endured a rather brutal one as well: first, my wife's mom died of rapid-onset dementia. Then, our beloved dog died. Then, I lost my job. My wife is clinically depressed and nearly inconsolable these days. Depressed and frustrated myself, I am often at a loss to help her. I pray next year is better for all of us.

When I see snow falling outside, silently and peacefully, I am instantly hopeful and happy as I was as a child, if only for a moment.

I want it to snow again.

Thanks for the tune, EC. I've got a job interview in a couple of hours and that definitely improved my mood.

Haven't heard ol' Marshall Tucker in a long time - thank you! :0012:

It sounded so nice this morning, I even played along on the guitar (chords - for those so inclined: D, F#min, G, D; D, F#min, G, A, D; bridge: D,A,G; D,A,G; D,A,G,D).

For Geno, my dear friend.  He loved Chris Rea.  I worked with him in Colombia, Trinidad and Barbados.  He took his own life a couple years ago in the Dominican Republic.

This is great.  Love Rea's voice.

A cleaner version:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0Ecq7ULFQw

I dare you to start listening to this one.  You won't stop.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fu_Enr8JY5E

He wrote this for the Muslims in England.  His politics are very conservative.

I feel your heat in dusty whispers
The wind is cold around your moon
It's getting hard to keep our distance
I know your time is coming soon
Don't point your dream on my horizon
Don't take your rose too far from home
Please don't forget we're not each other
Each soul has black thorns of his own

I see you dancing
Your song is clear
You've got to show me, got to show me
There's nothing to fear
Nothing to fear
I have my loved ones you have yours
So let us gaze upon the feast
In God's own name let's eat together
In God's own name please come in peace
See how our children play together
While you and me we stand alone
I know we'll never be each other
If I leave you leave me alone

I see you dancing
Your song is clear
You've got to show me, got to show me
There's nothing to fear
Nothing to fear

This tune has been getting a lot of airplay out here...C2C is a group of four man turntable group that has been around in France since 1998 or so...this originally was released in January 2012...it is very unusual with a very catchy beat.....
