F16 Fighter Jets – A Discussion

F16 fighter jets are the most prolific fighter planes. These are unique versatile fighter aircraft. 2000 planes are already serving us. 2500 planes are in service across the world. These jets emerged out in 1979. The planes can withstand the higher forces. This is the unique factor of these planes.

These are single-engine fighter planes. General Dynamic developed the jets. The makers initially designed day time fighter planes. Then it turned into all-purpose aircraft. The Army uses these planes as versatile role jets. The plane design got approval in 1976. More than 4600 planes emerged out since then. Makers are developing updated versions of these planes.

The plane design got approval in 1976.

The YF-16 was announced winner over the YF-17 and other competitors in January, 1975, the fly-off having been held in 1974. FWIW, the YF-17 was adapted to naval standards and became the F/A-18.

These jets emerged out in 1979.

Sounds like the writer's first language is not English. That said, the first F-16A (Full Scale Development) left General Dynamics factory in October1976 and flew in December of the same year. The first production F-16 first flew in August, 1978 and was accepted by the USAF in January, 1979.

While I found these details in W'pedia, I was not surprised, as my employer in 1978 made displays for the F-16. The displays were in full production in early 1978. I, OTOH, saw S/N 001 F-18 HUD shipped and contributed to the testing of S/Ns 002-025. After which I worked on new and RMA A-10 Projection Units until moving on to a different company.
