White House seeks to change subject from 200K COVID-19 deaths

The U.S. death toll from COVID-19 surpassed 200,000 on Tuesday, but the grim milestone passed without too much of a comment from a White House more focused on the battle over the Supreme Court.

Trump used a recorded speech to the annual United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday to condemn China for unleashing “the plague onto the world” but did not mention the fact that the U.S. was nearing 200,000 deaths.

The U.S. passed that marker a couple hours later, according to John Hopkins University.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany opened her briefing about 90 minutes later with an attack on Democrats about the battle to nominate a successor to liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Good luck with that one.  The Democrats are going to mark every milestone, every statement by Trump that the worst has passed, every comment downplaying the pandemic.  And why wouldn't they?  It's an important topic to the overwhelming majority of the public and the majority don't approve of how Trump's handling it.

Anyone with more than two working brain cells grasps that 200,000 people did not die FROM Covid. I suspect that a good number didn't have it at all, even as a contributing factor to their deaths.

Sadly we will likely never know. The numbers have been so sullied as to make them wholly unreliable.

Crass as it may sound but 200K dead is just a culling of the herd and decreases the surplus population..  It happens in nature all the time.

Even if they had, initial projections were for 2,000,000 deaths, not 200,000.

For anyone else, anywhere else, keeping the death toll down to 10% of projected would be a big win!

In reality, we're looking at roughly one percent of the projected death toll, even with the CDC, the WHO, and FDA all working against the POTUS.
