Key takeaway from Schumer joint presser – AOC is the ‘de facto speaker of the House’September 21, 2020 | Tom Tillison
Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., chairman of the Senate GOP Conference, is pushing for President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., to put forth a nominee to replace the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
In warning that Democrats, under the leadership of Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., will “blow up the Senate†if they gain the majority in 2021, Barracco cited Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., who appeared with Schumer at a Saturday press conference, to say this is proof she is the “de facto speaker of the House,†according to Fox News.
Even more troubling, the Republican senator suggested it’s a sign of what to expect from the Democratic Party in the days ahead.
“If the Democrats win the White House and the Senate and have the House they will change the rules and they will blow up the Senate,†Barrasso said Sunday, during an appearance on Fox News.
“They have an entire war room working on this and they will expand the number of members of Supreme Court regardless of what the Republicans and President Trump do,†he added.
As for Ocasio-Cortez, 30, holding a joint presser with Schumer, rather than Speaker Pelosi, 80, keep in mind the democratic socialist from New York was tending bar in the Bronx just two years ago.
