Law enforcement intercepts package containing ricin addressed to Trump
By Kaelan Deese - 09/19/20 03:29 PM EDT

Law enforcement earlier this week intercepted a package addressed to President Trump containing the poison ricin, according to two officials.

Two tests were conducted to confirm the substance in the package was ricin, CNN reported.

Mail for the White House is screened and sorted at a facility away from the building before it arrives to the president.

The FBI and Secret Service are investigating the matter.

The Hill contacted the U.S. Secret Service and the FBI but did not immediately receive a response.

An envelope addressed to the White House and intercepted by U.S. authorities contained a substance identified as ricin, a deadly poison that appeared to have been sent from Canada, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said on Saturday.

An RCMP spokesman confirmed "it has received a request for assistance from the FBI in connection with a suspicious letter sent to the White House."  ... More at France24
