Mass vote-by-mail really does invite fraud — we need to guard against it

Voting fraud, especially via mail-in ballots, is a cinch to pull off, warns a top Democratic operative, who’s done it repeatedly. Yet voting by mail will be a huge part of the November election. Which is why officials need to plug the holes now.

Fixing ballots “is a real thing” and plenty common, says the insider in Jon Levine’s eye-opener in Sunday’s Post. States, he pleads, need to address major security gaps to protect the November election.

Indeed, as few as 500 or 1,000 votes can be enough “to flip” entire states, notes the source, who (as The Post confirmed) has worked in numerous legislative, mayoral and congressional races across the tri-state area. Among the scams he describes:

Postmen or others simply discard ballot-stuffed envelopes from areas that lean heavily toward a candidate they oppose.
Operatives offer to mail completed ballots for voters, then steam open the envelopes and switch in their own ballots.
Insiders “help” the elderly by filling out ballots for them. In some nursing homes, “the nurse is actually paid” to do that.
     Voters are flat-out bribed.

The only way to truly "guard against it" is... don't permit it in the first place.

If you want to vote, then show up with ID at the polls on election day.

Otherwise, unless you have a REALLY good and legitimate reason as to why you can't be there in person... too bad.

Once "vote by mail" is the norm, cheating will become institutionalized and all-but unstoppable.

Remember, ballot materials are evaluated by a Board - every single ballot materials are examined by this Board.

1.  Postmen don't know how any voter voted so it is doubtful a postman is throwing them away.
2.  The voter can personally deliver their ballot envelope to the voter registrar.
3.  Voter can use other legal means to deliver ballot envelope - UPS - FedEx
4.  If an operative takes the voter's ballot out and puts his/hers in that envelope, the ballot materials will be rejected because there is a number on the voter's ballot that is connected to that voter.  In this case, the ballot number in the envelope will not match the the voter's real ballot number so it will be rejected.
5.  In nursing homes, a voter may have ONE person help with the ballot.  The helper must print and write the helper's name and address on the ballot materials.  That helper can ONLY HELP ONE person.  Since the helper must print and write name and address, the Board will find this person helping more than one person, and discard these ballots; they will not be counted.  Also, if the helper does not print and write name and does not put their address on there, missing any one of those, the ballot materials are rejected.
