Judge rules Georgia ballots mailed by Election Day must be counted

Mark Niesse   |   5 hours ago

A federal judge on Monday extended the deadline for absentee ballots to be returned in Georgia, ruling that they must be counted if postmarked by Election Day and delivered up to three days afterward.

The decision will likely result in tens of thousands of ballots being counted after Nov. 3 that would have otherwise been rejected, enough to swing close elections. The ruling invalidates Georgia’s requirement that ballots had to be received at county election offices by 7 p.m. on Election Day.

U.S. District Judge Eleanor Ross wrote that voters must be protected during the coronavirus pandemic, when record numbers of Georgians are expected to cast absentee ballots.

So much for the rule of law.  A federal judge has usurped Georgia's Constitutional right to establish their own election laws, and by pure fiat has formulated her own law to replace longstanding Georgia election law.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

The goal is to extend the initial count as long possible.  That allows less time for any election challenges to take place before the electoral college meets.  As bad as 2020 has been, it's going to get a whole lot worse.

First, what does the actual law say?

And if this position isn't written in law judges don't make law.

Counting ballots that arrive after the bulk of votes are counted is ripe for manufacturing votes as required to swing an election.

Yup....this will go on for WEEKS before it's decided....maybe MONTHS.  And lawsuit after lawsuit.....with the Supreme Court getting involved, which won't end well.  This could seriously cause a civil war.....

Im afraid our side will quietly acquiesce in the event the rats win, regardless of how questionable the circumstances of their ‘victory’.  Needless to say they will never concede.

One thing is clear.  Electors must meet in each State capital on Dec 14 to cast their votes.  If the electors of a State fail to vote, then that State's votes aren't counted, and the threshold for victory is reduced accordingly.  For example, if Wisconsin fails to report its ten electoral votes, then the winner needs 265 of 528 votes instead of 270 of 538.

Democrat governors of States that go for Trump would have an incentive to disrupt the process.  Let's say Trump wins Wisconsin.  But if Wisconsin's governor somehow prevents the electors from meeting on Dec 14 and casting their votes, then those 10 electoral votes would be tossed.

Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and North Carolina delivered 61 electoral votes for Trump four years ago.   Today, all four have Democrat governors.
