Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk stated in a recent interview that people in the United States are “entitled” and “complacent” while Chinese citizens are “smart” and “hard-working people.”

CNBC reports that in a recent interview with Automotive News’ “Daily Drive” podcast, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk complained of the “entitled” and “complacent” character of U.S. citizens while praising the “smart” and “hard-working” people of China. This is far from the first time that Musk has cozied up to communist China.

Musk criticized New York and California, states that have both gone to extreme lengths to support Musk’s businesses with tax breaks, regulatory credits, and regular government help. Breitbart News has reported extensively on the government subsidies that Musk and his companies have taken advantage of.

Jason Stein, the publisher of Automotive News who conducted the interview with Musk, asked him “How about China as an EV strategy leader in the world?” to which Musk replied: “China rocks in my opinion. The energy in China is great. People there – there’s like a lot of smart, hard-working people. And they’re really — they’re not entitled, they’re not complacent, whereas I see in the United States increasingly much more complacency and entitlement especially in places like the Bay Area, and L.A. and New York.”

As much as it pains me, I get where Musk is coming from.

Unfortunately, China is also our enemy who seeks to bury us.

Skeeter, I agree with you.

Like him or not, Musk is correct regarding his observations of the Chinese work force vis-a-vis what comprises much of the American "work force" of today.

It's why China is ascendant, and also why we're in decline.
Sharp decline...

Musk is just upset that he can't work Americans into the ground for a pittance like he can the Red Chinese.

No, why we are in sharp decline is that in America, virtually every incentive for being excellent has been systematically removed, from jealous or threatened superiors/coworkers in corporate environments to the progressive income tax, if you are really good, and make no bones about wanting to be the best, there will be people gunning for you at all levels, and the more you make, the more the Government takes.
I'm not saying the Chinese don't have some of that, too (it's human nature for some to tear down those better than them), but they are squarely behind the people they are behind, and a bullet waits for those they are not. That's some hefty motivation, right there.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

The Red Chinese are stealing everything they can in terms of tech from Musk, and he'll wake up to that someday (likely too late).

Yup, 'China Rocks', I see why Musk is jealous that in America workers on the whole have actual rights and aren't treated as slaves and punished for not making quotas, not to mention that their wages are dirt cheap. I wonder if Elon will be shocked to find out his American employees are less than thrilled with his viewpoint?

Freedom sucks for the little Musk.

He MUST have government-funded handouts and almost slave labor for his dreams to be fulfilled.

I get where he is coming from. Not the china rocks part, but the complacent American part. My company has been trying to hire a couple of new techs for a year now. As soon as we mention 24/7 on call, out the door they go. And the job is low 6 figures...

Not quality workers.  Good,  they didn't want that job.  Some one with good morals and gratitude, will show up.  We are still out there!

Well, one of the tenants of real conservationism is the free market...  Applies to people as well as goods.

He is a billionaire.  He can afford to pay living wages, but doesn't want to.  Taxpayer subsidies must stop.  He knows the Chinese steal our tech, yet continues to give them access.

Every culture has its strengths and weaknesses, for the most part. Chinese people included. So if Musk imagines he can get quality and productivity from workers paid bottom kuai and treated like @#$%, well, Musk and his customers will learn differently. OTOH, if Musk chooses to work with companies that pay and treat employees well and have good employee retention, he may get quality that is as good or not good as his designs.
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

Pffft.  Smart and hard working people do not have to take the lazy way out by stealing the intellectual property that others have invested many years and $$$ to develop.

Well, yeah. Most people don't love their job enough to give up the rest of their life outside work for it. I mean, I empathize with a company is looking for shift workers or on-call workers, especially ones with skills, but modern Americans value time over money.

Hard to believe that someone THAT rich can be THAT naive,ain't it?

Think maybe they are so friendly to him because they want to steal his money and his patents?

@EdinVA

HEY! Cut his some slack! No doubt China is willing to build his factories for him!

Of course,once they get the patents,the machine equipment,and have the Americans teach their serfs how to operate it all,Musk will be escorted out of China,and the Chinese will keep it all and not give him a dime.

I am guessing he won't admire them as much after that all happens.

HEY! It COULD be worse. They COULD just chain him to a welder,milling machine,or a spray booth instead of taking him to the airport!

@Fishrrman

They are ascendant because they steal everything in sight,and they control a nation of slaves.

I don't see either as something to admire.
