Birx recommends face shields in addition to masks

Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus response coordinator, is recommending the use of face shields along with masks to protect against COVID-19 infection.

Face shields can offer more protection to the wearer than cloth face coverings, which are intended to prevent asymptomatic individuals from spreading coronavirus to others.

“The mask protects others, to block those droplets and block that contamination that happens when you speak or sing or talk, or even breathe,” Birx said on "Fox & Friends" Thursday morning.

“The thing about the face shields — we think that could protect the individuals and that it would decrease the ability for them to touch their eyes and spread the virus as well as those droplets coming towards them. So there are two different technologies for two different reasons.”

Im more worried Dr Birx will one day say farts kill the virus.

As a safety health and enviromental manager  at petrochemical facility, we managed the use of PPE, and its requirements.  There were cases and needs to use face shields.  ALL require that subject be stationary, and remove periodically for self orientation.

You want people hurt?  Watch a store load of people walking around with masks and fogged up face shields falling and hurting themselves.  Do people think these things through?

If you were a painter, you would know that moving with a face shield actually draws a roil of air in behind the shield from the sides.

Just for general information, you don’t test positive for the DISEASE. You test positive for the VIRUS and most that test positive for the VIRUS never develop the DISEASE.

The DISEASE COVID-19 is ‘diagnosed’, not ‘tested’.

So if I go to the store, would I wear level, A, B, or C?  What about doctor's offices?  Churches?  Banks?  Parks, Restaurants?  Movies? Sporting events?   I really think she needs to be more specific. Maybe most importantly can I deduct the costs of these get ups on our taxes?  :shrug:
