Here is a good example: The Confederate Flag. Take a battle flag with the blood of patriots upon it, and make it into a symbol of hate for another people... The ancestors who hold that flag in honor, sure as hell ain't gonna let it fall, and the people who see it has a symbol of hate sure ain't gonna let it stand.

That ain't by accident. Why was that done? How do you fix it?

Ponder that a while and translate it into the disparity between the right and the left - Fighting over sh*t neither one believes in. It's the same dang thing. The fight on the Right is over baubles and candy - There ain't a principle one being defended.

And on the Left - Exactly the same... They're fighting for the right to include fantasy in reality and making bathrooms unisex. The principles they stood on back in Jimmy Stuart's day are long gone. Again. Baubles and candy thrown by the clown at the front of the parade.

The thing all y'all ain't figured out yet is that it's the same dang parade... And nobody is watching where it's going.

I hope you aren't including me in that "Yall" @roamer_1 because I well know where it is headed and have said so many time in the past on this very forum.  NONE of that is new! In fact, that has been going on since before the ink was dry on the Constitution! The ONLY place you and I disagree is on how to fight it and apparently that is not likely to change.

We're saying until you demand more from your party nothing is going to change.

You've limited yourself to the false choice of one or the other.

By them knowing you will vote for them no matter what they do they are empowered to do whatever they please as long as it isn't worse than what the other side is doing. So no matter who is elected things only get worse sliding further and further to the left.

When they actually have to earn your vote and do what they said they were going to do will things have a chance at changing for the better.

But right now they own you.

Well, his point the we all have to get involved and demand adherence to the constitution is well taken, but to late.
We are hanging on the cliff of socialism by our fingernails and now is not the time to engage in academics.

It is recognizing that if you want to actually cause some change in the right direction what you are doing isn't working.

That it should be self evident after the last 20 years or so of failure.

If they own your vote you have no say in what they do.

We need to vote FOR someone that has earned it not the lesser evil. And have the courage to stick with the one we vote FOR instead crawling in fear voting for the one "who can win" at the last moment. The truth is if we had the courage to stick to our guns as a unified front we get something accomplished instead of chasing the shiny star power of some populist candidate.

California is a great example. Tom McClintock was the leading candidate for governor in 2003. An actual principled conservative. And then Arnold stepped in. A Hollywood "Republican" but actually a populist. He talked the good talk. His opponents were "girly men". The Republicans went off chasing the "straight talker" and glitter instead of someone of character. Arnold got elected and was a total disaster.

2016 was a replay of that at the national level.

The Republic as founded has been gone since 1865 and even liberal historians like Shelby Foote have admitted the fact.  What to call what we were left with at that point is debatable (I like Commercial Empire myself) and even that is in great jeopardy of being lost forever real soon.

Well, separating the wheat from the chaff, politicians being the chaff, non-liberals are the ones working, raising kids, paying mortgages and have "trusted" their representatives to do their jobs so we can do ours.  That is what has to change.  Just going to the polls once a year and pulling our lever is not enough.  We have to be the spine, but we have to keep pushing and fighting otherwise it is surrender.

This is repeated often around Briefer City, in one form or another.  I don't think it's so much "surrender" as abject ignorance.

To think we can affect change going forward by turning all levers of government and the courts over to the Socialists for a generation belies even a rudimentary understanding of how things are going to work if we lose this election.

We will have no voice.  We will have no influence, we will have no place in the White House, no vote in either the house or the senate.  And if one voice should sneak through, the courts will stifle it.

We will become everything the Socialists/Marists demand of us or we will lose income, home and our modicum of security. They're not going to wait for us to surrender, they're going to take all of it --- from us. 

If ever there was a time to live in the moment, this is it.
