Oregon governor says federal officers are leaving Portland
By Justin Wise - 07/29/20 11:44 AM EDT

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown (D) announced Wednesday that the Trump administration has agreed to withdraw federal tactical teams from Portland, Ore., which for weeks has been the site of violent clashes between officers and protesters.

Brown said in a statement that an agreement for federal agents to leave the city was reached following a discussion with Vice President Pence. She said that officers from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would begin their withdrawal on Thursday.

“These federal officers have acted as an occupying force, refused accountability, and brought violence and strife to our community," Brown said.

"Our local Oregon State Police officers will be downtown to protect Oregonians' right to free speech and keep the peace," she added. "Let's center the Black Lives Matter movement's demands for racial justice and police accountability. It's time for bold action to reform police practices."

I heard just the opposite on the radio news. When I "google" this story, the only source seems to be the governor. No comment from the feds, as of now.

They've been trying to protect federal property, because the Portland police have been ordered to do nothing. Shame on her for being such a liar.

Federal officers will begin leaving the city on Thursday under a deal reached between Oregon officials and the Trump administration. State police will help protect Portland's federal courthouse.

https://www.opb.org/article/2020/07/29/o...phased-removal/

In exchange for a phased removal of federal officers brought in to protect federal property in the city, Brown’s office has agreed to help guard against vandalism of the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse using state resources alongside the Federal Protective Service.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

They have to know 'better'.   Maybe they're thinking they can use it as a campaign ad (that nobody will get to see due to censoring).

Of course they can't be trusted otherwise the violent protests and destruction wouldn't have been allowed -- the Feds should have used their full authority to defend property and LIFE!!

I think this part of what I posted above says they don't completely trust her.

No it hasn't! WE haven't been getting the whole story! That is why the Dems are SO upset with the video that was shown in yesterday's "hearing".

Sure am looking forward to this retreat justification.  I am listening.

Federal Protective Services?  Aren't they just the normal GSA guards?

I suspect... that the Feds will only "leave" until they start seeing some of that ""deal"" implemented.  We shall see....

Can you imagine being an Oregon State Trooper right now, and thinking you might be next in line for cannon fodder duty?

I don't know but it's clear to me that not all federal officers are leaving Portland despite the governor and the media trying to send  the message that they are.

And I'm also sure that whatever federal resources might be needed in the future won't be very far away.

I imagine that ALL such agencies in these liberal hell holes are having some REAL personnel problems about now.

I can't even imagine living in a leftist-run (ruined) state....lol.   They've been trying to ruin Texas for decades.  If they ever succeed, I'm moving to the Bahamas.  Being a homeless beach lady would be better than living in a "blue" state under leftist control.

Not quite sure which video you are referring to and I'm assuming it is the video showing the unpeaceful protests?  Yes, I get that.  This administration allowed things to get out of control from the very beginning and allowed this chaos to spread.

Do you not understand that policing the cities of Portland, St. Louis, Atlanta, Chicago, and any other you might name other than D.C. is NOT a federal responsibility?  It IS their responsibility to protect federal property within those cities and they are doing the best they can to do that as far as I can tell.
